What’s actually included in the all-in price
A lot of the “cheaper” quotes you’ll find online are hardware-only quotes. The price we publish is the complete job. When you pay 450,000 or 600,000 RWF, here’s what happens:
- You receive a genuine Starlink kit — dish, router, cables and power adapter — from stock we hold in Kigali, not something imported on order.
- We deliver it to your home, office or farm the same day in Kigali (24–48 hours to destinations upcountry).
- Our technician mounts the dish where it has a clear view of the sky, routes the cabling cleanly, and aims it for the strongest possible signal.
- We set up the account, activate your service and run a speed test before we leave.
- You keep 30 days of priority support (Mini) or 60 days (Standard) — and a full receipt for every franc.
There is no “installation fee” added later, no “activation charge”, and no surprises at the door.
Starlink Mini vs Standard: which price should you pay?
The 150,000 RWF difference between the two kits is worth understanding before you pay.
Starlink Mini — 450,000 RWF
The Mini is compact, quiet and ideal for apartments, studios, small offices and anyone who wants portable internet. Its built-in Wi-Fi covers roughly 112 m² and it supports up to 128 devices. If one or two people work from home in a Kigali apartment, the Mini is usually the smart money.
Starlink Standard — 600,000 RWF
The Standard kit is the workhorse: a high-performance dish paired with a Gen 3 Wi-Fi 6 router, wider coverage and plenty of headroom for families, guesthouses, schools and businesses that run video calls, cloud backups and streaming at the same time. It’s the most popular choice for family homes and guesthouses around Kigali.

What about the monthly Starlink subscription?
The kit price is a one-off. After that, your monthly subscription is billed directly by Starlink — we never add a markup on it, and the account stays in your name. In Rwanda, Starlink plans run at 40,000 RWF, 60,000 RWF and 150,000 RWF per month, depending on the plan and the speed you choose. You can manage your plan, check usage or cancel yourself in the Starlink app.
Worth knowing: Rwanda is consistently ranked as one of the cheapest Starlink markets in the world. In mid-2026, residential plans in Rwanda were reported at roughly $27–45 per month depending on tier and exchange rate, well below US and European pricing (see this Starlink Africa price overview). Is Starlink worth it compared to local fibre?
Honest answer: it depends on where you are.
If you live in a well-connected pocket of Kigali where 50 Mbps fibre already reaches your building, entry-level fibre is the cheaper monthly option. But here’s our honest take: Starlink is the better internet in Rwanda — 150–350 Mbps against 50 Mbps, far more reliable, and it works on the hills the fibre never reached. Fibre only exists where the cables were laid. The moment you move up the hill — towards Nyungwe, the far edge of Kigali, Huye, or a farm in Musanze — the fibre map runs out.
Starlink works the other way: it connects anywhere you have a clear view of the sky, with speeds of 150–350 Mbps and 25–50 ms latency in Rwanda. For homes that can’t afford downtime, offices where a dropped call costs money, guesthouses where guests test the Wi-Fi first thing, and anyone on a hill the fibre never reached, Starlink is usually the better value. The hidden costs to avoid
Most people who end up overpaying for Starlink in Rwanda paid for one of these:
- Grey-market kits. “Cheaper” dishes imported from Zambia or Kenya without a proper local setup — no local warranty, no local support, and in some cases roaming issues. The discount rarely survives contact with reality.
- DIY installation gone wrong. Mounting a dish behind a neighbour’s wall, under eaves or on the wrong part of the roof can cut your speeds by half. Professional mounting and aiming are exactly what’s included in the all-in price above.
- Split billing. Some sellers quote the hardware, then add delivery, then installation, then “activation”. When comparing offers, always compare the total price to being online — not just the sticker price on the dish.
