Why DIY installation quietly costs you speed
Starlink’s own setup is famously easy – which is exactly why people skip the professional install and then wonder why their speeds don’t match the brochure. In Kigali, three things make this worse:
- The hills. Every ridge line blocks a chunk of sky. A spot that looks perfect from the balcony may lose 40% of its signal because of a building two streets over.
- Iron-sheet roofs. Most homes in Kigali use them, and drilling and mounting on corrugated metal without proper hardware leads to leaks, loose mounts and corrosion.
- Eaves and trees. A dish under an overhang or behind branches may be fine on a dry day and painful in the rains.

How long are you on my roof?
60-90 minutes for a standard residential install. Complex roofs (multiple storeys, long cable runs, flat concrete) can take longer – we’ll tell you in advance.
What if my roof isn’t suitable?
We work with it. Iron sheet, tile, concrete, parapet walls, or a free-standing mount in the compound – if there’s a clear view of the sky, there’s a mounting solution. We’ll walk you through options on site.
Can you install a kit I bought elsewhere?
Sometimes yes – it depends on the kit’s activation status. Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll check before you commit to anything.
What happens if the signal at my house is weak?
We test the sky view before we commit to a mount, and we re-aim and re-position on the day until the signal is right. If a location genuinely can’t get a strong signal, we’ll tell you honestly rather than mounting something that won’t perform.
What support do I get after installation?
30 days of priority support with the Mini, 60 days with the Standard – call or WhatsApp us and a real person in Kigali picks up. After that, businesses can switch to a monthly management plan.
